By providing in-state tuition rates to undocumented residents, this law has opened doors to higher education for many, including myself as a proud first-generation graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. Despite the positive impact of the Dream Act, Texas Republicans have made numerous attempts to repeal it over the years. Recently, during the 89th Legislative Session, the current efforts to repeal the Noriega Bill left many feeling angered and disheartened. Yet, the response from the community has been unwavering, as students and allies consistently testify and share their experiences, illuminating the critical importance of maintaining this vital law.

Politicians' reluctance to confront such fundamental issues publicly has forced them to elevate this matter to the federal level.
